Library at Bread Springs Day School

Bread Springs Day School Library is a hub for reading, studying, and discovering new people, places and ideas. Students explore the pages in our catalog of books and periodicals to learn about all the valuable resources available. This is also the place for staff and students to engage in opportunities for intellectual growth. In the section below, you can review the essential policies that ensure a pleasant and productive library experience for everyone.

Checkouts

At our library, we have a world of knowledge awaiting all students. Student visitors gain access to this knowledge when they check out books. The school allows book checkouts at its discretion, so be sure to take advantage of this valuable resource.

Overdue Books

We encourage responsible book borrowing. Students who have overdue items will be limited to a single book until the overdue books are returned or renewed. At the end of the school year, all overdue books will be treated as lost or missing, so please be sure to return your books on time.

Requests for Books

Our dedicated library staff welcomes your book requests. Whether you're a student or a staff member, we value your input. We make every effort to obtain books requested for the library and will help you research any subjects and topics that interest you.

Library Access During Class Hours

Students must obtain a pass from a teacher or staff member to access the library during class hours.  Please note that hall passes will not be provided by the librarian.

Library Rules

To create a pleasant and productive space for everyone, we kindly ask you to follow these library rules:

  • Bring all materials needed before entering the library:  Be prepared for visits and minimize hallway/library traffic by bringing all needed materials to library.
  • No food or drinks:  We want to keep the library clean and free from spills, so please avoid bringing food or drinks into the library.
  • No leaving during class hours:  To maintain a quiet and focused environment, students may not leave the library during class hours without permission from the librarian or their designee.
  • Keep voices down:  Respect the need for a quiet atmosphere to study and read by keeping your voices down while visiting the library.
  • No running or horseplay:  To prevent accidents and disturbances, running or horseplay is not allowed.
  • Keep the library clean:  We all share this space, so please tidy up after yourself and keep the library clean for the next user.
  • Return books to designated areas:  After you’re done with a book, please return it to the designated areas for proper re-shelving.
  • Reference materials, magazines, and newspapers:  These valuable resources are for in-library use only, so please don't remove them from the library.
